About Ruby
Ruby Gibson’s passion for the past 30 years has been to develop an effective somatic system for transgenerational reconciliation. She is the developer and teacher of Somatic Archaeology™ and Generational Brainspotting™ and travels internationally sharing her work.
A woman of mixed descent, Ruby carries lineage from two cultures – Mediterranean and Native American – allowing her to be a bridge between worlds. With a Master’s degree in Theology and Transformational Psychology, Ruby is currently a doctoral candidate at Holos University researching the cross-cultural efficacy and benefits of Somatic Archaeology and generational remembering. Residing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Ruby began her healing work at age 13. She is an earth-centered ceremonialist, lifetime vegetarian, aromatherapist, poet, and the author of two books – My Body, My Earth, The Practice of Somatic Archaeology (2008) and Home is the Heart (1989).
As a certified somatic therapist, licensed massage therapist, spiritual counselor, child advocate, educator and trauma recovery specialist, Ruby has a thriving private practice based on client empowerment designed to reconcile abusive, repetitive cycles. Ruby enjoys teaching people to honor their bodies and Mother Earth, to heal the suffering of our ancestors, to find empowerment within natural alchemy, to express creative capacity, and to develop self-love, cultural belonging and authentic spiritual direction.
Ms. Gibson believes that it is the occupation of our generation to remember. Historical amnesia burdens our hearts, minds and bodies, establishing repetitive patterns and familial dynamics that are at the source of suffering. Ruby has spent her years developing training programs to reconcile intergenerational stress, trauma and suffering. Ruby combines somatic-based awareness, breathwork, aromatherapy, neurophysiology, nature meditation, ancient medicine wheel principles, and stress management models formulated from kincentric and indigenous principles to create an innovative model of intergenerational therapy for the 21st century.
The mother of three beautiful children, Ruby’s impetus is to lighten the load for future generations. She believes that we can translate historical trauma into present day psychological/spiritual advantage. Our buried memories and family/cultural legacies can be transformed to demonstrate self-protection and leadership. These are activities of profound responsibility requiring us to proceed with consciousness and ethical reflection. Ruby’s work demonstrates that the backlog of unresolved memories can be accessed and reconciled to reduce stress symptoms, reignite instinctual resources, and reduce the burdens passed onto the next seven generations. For all of our Relations!
